A taboo-breaking, underground comic book artist has his hand lopped off by a brutal Chinese property developer. The hand comes back to life, seeking revenge (when it isn’t sticking a finger up its previous owner’s butt, for the LOLs). Cinemasewer honcho Robin Bougie has an amusing (is that the right word?) cameo in this locally made splatterfest, as an artist beheaded in an Internet video by outraged Canadians offended by his work. If there’s a point to Bloody Knuckles, besides some fun effects-work, I guess that’s it. This is a movie that not only wants to disgust you, it’ll argue its right to do it, regardless of whether it’s in any way necessary. But the film’s racism, sexism, homophobia and general seediness is all too forced and juvenile to really upset anyone, making that appearance by Bougie ironic in spite of itself. Now there’s a man who really knows how to offend. He should be decapitated.
